Chennai Super Kings (CSK)'s MS Dhoni gave a lot to his fans to cheer about as he smacked two big hits in the last over of the innings, taking CSK's total to 178-7 after Ruturaj Gaikwad's power-packed 92.

Dhoni returned to his vintage mode in the final over against Joshua Little, where he smacked a maximum and boundary. Interestingly, the sixer was MSD's 200th in Chennai colours.

In his cameo knock, the 41-year-old scored a seven-ball 14*.

First time in his life, Dhoni batted at Number 8 for the Chennai team; however, his knock may have been short, but it was a ferocious one as he gave CSK the finish they wanted.

Before the start of the season, there were massive speculations regarding the CSK skipper’s batting form and rhythm as he was returning to professional cricket after ten months, but he shut all his critics with his refreshing cameo.

Earlier in the game, Ruturaj Gaikwad held the forte for his team, despite losing regular wickets from the other end. However, the stylish right-hander seemed to batted on a different deck, scoring an eye-pleasing 92 off just 50 balls before returning to the hut on a controversial high full-toss.

Nevertheless, Chennai ended their innings on a high note, finishing with 178 runs on the board. Although it would be interesting to watch how MSD rotate his bowlers in a small Ahmedabad stadium.

Also, MSD became the first-ever captain in the history of the IPL to use the Impact Player rule as Tushar Deshpande was brought in place of Ambati Rayudu at the start of the second innings.
