Phil Salt's outstanding opening display in Delhi Capitals' (DC) recent victory against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Saturday has earned him high praise from former Indian opener Aakash Chopra.

Chopra commended Salt for his destructive knock, which saw him score 87 runs off just 45 balls, helping the home team chase down a target of 182 runs with ease.

During a video review of the game shared on his YouTube channel, Chopra lauded Salt's unwavering aggression at the crease, stating that he "sprinkled salt on the wounds" of the opposition. He also remarked on the sheer power of Salt's shots, which were causing such damage that the Delhi Police were allegedly called to the stadium.

"Phil Salt sprinkled salt on the wounds. There was a lot of violence. Delhi Police were informed to go to Feroz Shah Kotla because the ball was getting beaten up mercilessly. You need an opener like this who doesn't slow down at all,” said Chopra.

The renowned commentator went on to emphasize the importance of having a top-order batsman like Salt, who is able to maintain a high level of intensity throughout his innings. He also praised the efforts of other Delhi Capitals batters, including David Warner, Rilee Rossouw, and Axar Patel, all of whom played their part in the team's impressive victory.

"David Warner did get out after a while but his intent was also class. After that came Rilee Rossouw and he was in a different hurry - a plethora of fours and sixes. Phil Salt got out in the end, but by that time RCB were also out because Axar Patel too came and hit a six,” added the former opener.

Meanwhile, RCB's bowling attack was left gasping for air as Rossouw, Warner, and Mitchell Marsh unleashed a flurry of powerful shots. Rossouw's unbeaten 22-ball 35 was particularly impressive, while Warner and Marsh also made their presence felt with quickfire knocks of 22 off 14 and 26 off 17 respectively.
