England's renowned opener Danielle Wyatt expressed her disappointment at not being picked for the inaugural Women's Premier League (WPL), stating that it was a very disheartening experience.

Wyatt, who had previously played in the Women's T20 Challenge, expressed her disappointment after failing to attract any bids during the WPL auction on February 13 in Mumbai.

The star opener also admitted that she loves playing cricket in India and was hoping to participate in the inaugural edition of the WPL.

"I mean, it was a very heart-breaking couple of days. I was very disappointed, obviously, having been a part of the IPL Exhibition matches and I love playing cricket in India."

"It's one of the best places to play cricket. So, to not even have one bid was pretty heart-breaking. But that's life. And my focus is purely on this World Cup now and, yeah, the sun still comes up the next day, doesn't it?"

Recalling the moment when she learned that she went unsold during the WPL auction, Wyatt revealed that she was on her way to a training session and was feeling dejected and just wanted to retreat to her hotel room after completing her training.

"It was a very, very weird day. I found out I went unsold just before I got off the bus. So, I had to go and play against Ireland, which wasn't ideal timing, but that's the way it is. And yeah, I got back to the hotel and just wanted to stay in my room."

"I was literally heartbroken. And yeah, the girls really got around me, which is really nice. Obviously, some people got what they wanted. Some people didn't. But yeah, I was just so proud of the way everyone handled it."

The much-awaited inaugural edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL) is scheduled to kick off on March 4, featuring five teams battling for the coveted trophy.

Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and UP Warriorz are the teams participating in the tournament.
