CSK Legend Reveals How Many Matches Deepak Chahar Might Miss Due to Hamstring Injury

Four-time IPL champions, Chennai Super Kings, were hit by a devastating blow during their match against Mumbai Indians on Saturday at the Wankhede Stadium. The leader of the bowling attack, Deepak Chahar, was forced to leave the field after bowling just one over due to a left hamstring injury that resurfaced during his spell of bowling.

The unfortunate event has left the franchise, and their fans, disheartened, particularly given Chahar's prolonged absence from the IPL 2022 season due to a back injury.

According to CSK veteran Suresh Raina, Chahar's injury may sideline him for four to five games. This would undoubtedly be a significant setback for the franchise, particularly considering the extensive travelling involved in playing matches in different venues. Raina also noted that Chahar appeared uncomfortable and may have re-aggravated his hamstring injury.

"It seems Deepak will be out for 4-5 games. It looks he has again sustained hamstring injury and looked in discomfort. All the other IPL venues are far off from Chennai and there will be lot of travelling involved," said Raina while commentating for Jio Cinema.

In the absence of their bowling mainstay, other CSK bowlers rose to the occasion and did a brilliant job, restricting Mumbai to 157/8. The Men in Yellow comprehensively chased the target with seven wickets to spare.

After the match, CSK captain MS Dhoni expressed satisfaction with his team's performance against the arch-rivals, particularly given the early loss of Chahar. The legendary wicket-keeper acknowledged that Chahar is an important new ball bowler for the team, and his absence was keenly felt.

However, he praised the team's spinners, who performed admirably, and young fast bowlers like Sisanda Magala, Dwaine Pretorius, and Tushar Deshpande, who demonstrated promise.

While CSK's early loss of Chahar is undoubtedly a setback, the team's strong performance against Mumbai Indians and the promise shown by its young bowlers bodes well for the future.
