It was an outstanding knock from the Indian Premier League (IPL) returnee Ajinkya Rahane who played an innings to remember for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) against Mumbai Indians. The Mumbai stalwart thumped the fastest half-century of the season so far as he needed just 19 balls to reach the milestone.

His innings is of great significance because of the fact that it came against their arch-rivals and that too when conditions were not really easy to bat. This masterclass ensured a sweet victory for the Super Kings, their second on the trot as they defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) previously.

After the game, CSK skipper MS Dhoni revealed that he had a discussion with Rahane prior to the start of the season having an honest chat with him. The wicket-keeper batter revealed that he wanted him to bat naturally and play at his strength which is to score runs using his sound technique.

"Me and Jinx spoke at the beginning when we started practicing for CSK. He was simple asking 'what you are looking from me?' Whatever I had in me I told him you need to play at your strength. You won't be somebody who will be consistently hitting sixes but you have the ability to manipulate the field, use the pace of the bowler and he is technically very sound. I said go and enjoy because that's what is needed,"

Dhoni further mentioned that Rahane wasn't happy with the way he got out along with his thinking that it is a good sign.

"Don't take too much stress. Yes we are not able to give you the first game but when the chance comes, we'll back you and I was very happy the way he batted. I think he was a bit disappointed the way he got out which is always a good signal when a player says I could have done slightly more."

CSK and MS Dhoni will next take the field against Rajasthan Royals on the 12th of April.
