In absence of regular skipper Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul stepped up to take his side to a gigantic 188 runs victory against Bangladesh in the first Test at Chattogram. The opening batter did wonderfully well to utilize his bowlers judiciously against a determined Tigers' side.

Indian bowling coach Paras Mhambrey reckoned stand-in captain was outstanding with his decisions. He further added that Rahul efficiently used the pacers, asking them to come in and bowl at short stints.

Mhambrey asserted that KL needs to be given the due credit he deserves for leading the side well.

“The captain’s instincts are also important and we need to back those decisions. Credit needs to go to KL Rahul, he rotated the bowlers very well. He got the fast bowlers in short bursts when the ball was reversing, so that was good as well.

“When he realized that fast bowlers are having longer spells, he got the spinners in. And the new ball we took, we got a couple of wickets after that as well. So I think the credit goes to KL, he has rotated he bowlers very well.”

After Rohit Sharma getting ruled out today, Rahul will again be in-charge of the Indian side in the second Test to be played at Dhaka from 22nd December.
