Umesh Yadav has been an underrated bowler for India in Tests. Not given much of an opportunity because of the emergence of Mohammed Siraj, Umesh has created a fairytale story of his own.
On the second day of the Indore Test, Umesh Yadav showed his prowess in sub-continent conditions and picked up 3 for 12 to restrict Australia under 200. However, the moment of the day arrived when he knocked over Mitchell Starc with a pearler to get his 100th Test wicket at home.
Coming around the wicket, Umesh's good length ball nipped back in and straightened a touch to knock over the stumps as Starc looked in disarray.
Reflecting on his 100 wicket landmark, Umesh looked delighted and stated that it's a great feeling to reach this landmark.
It's a great feeling. I got to know that I got 100 wickets at home. It depends on the team's requirements, situations. The red ball comes nicely on the bat when new. The old ball does well. It's a really good feeling for me to achieve this feat."
Talking about the Test match, Australia needed 76 runs to claw back in the series, and they achieved the target with 9 wickets in hand.
Despite losing Usman Khawaja on the second ball of the third day, Australia looked unfazed and Travis Head (49*), and Marnus Labuschagne (28*) steered their side past the winning line.
Australia have qualified for the WTC finals, and India need to win their next Test to secure their place as well.
