MS Dhoni, the captain cool, is known for his calm demeanour on the field, and is someone who has led India to three ICC titles with his calmness on the field. In the game of cricket, there would be situations when the opposition is on the top and as a captain, you need to find the right solution at the right time.

MS Dhoni is the perfect example of it, as time and again, he has proven why he is hailed as the greatest captain of all time. But sometimes, even the greatest players lose their calm nature, and a couple of times, it has happened with MSD. One can recall the incident with Manish Pandey in 2018, when he hurled at the Karnataka batter who was at the non strikers end.

When cool and calm MSD turned on his angry mode

There also have been instances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) when captain cool got angry at his players and hurled abuses at them. In this instance, we recalled an event which occurred between Dhoni and CSK pacer, Deepak Chahar.

The incident was recalled by ex-CSK pacer, Mohit Sharma, who told an unheard story about how MS Dhoni got angry at Deepak Chahar and said a few words to him during an IPL game.

Mohit Sharma mentioned that during a tensed game in Chennai during the 2019 IPL season, Chahar faced the wrath of MSD, as he bowled a full-toss and was dispatched for a maximum. The then CSK skipper told Chahar not to bowl the same delivery, but he did the opposite and faced MS Dhoni's anger.

"Deepak Chahar has also received a lot of abuses. He too has a story. In 2019, Deepak was playing, and I was not. The game was in Chennai, and everyone was sweating profusely. He bowled a knuckle ball that I think was a full toss or something, which was hit for either a four or a six. Dhoni bhai told him not to bowl it again. He said, 'ok Mahi bhai'. After bowling the next 2-3 ball, he bowled the knuckle ball again which this time went over the head of the batter," Mohit recalled.

"Mahi bhai came up to him, kept his arms around Deepak's shoulder, said a few things to him and went back. We obviously didn't know. So when the match got over, we asked what happened? He said, 'You know what he said? He said a few wonderful things (likely abuses), and then he added 'Bewakoof tu nahi hai, bewakoof main hu (You're not the fool, I am). So that is a tale we always remember.

MSD likely to play in IPL 2025

There have been speculations related to MS Dhoni's retirement plans, but nothing has been confirmed yet. There could be a chance that he will extend his stay with the CSK side and will play for one more season. However, any decision regarding his IPL future will be confirmed once the IPL retention policy comes out.

MSD might be the last player to be retained by CSK, so that his salary cap stays low. However, knowing MS Dhoni, there is also a chance that one fine day he abruptly announces his IPL retirement.
