South Africa were under a lot of pressure heading into the ODI series against world champions, England. But they proved their doubters wrong with a resounding 2-1 series win.

The home side won the first two games, but were crushed in the third match by a determined England side on Wednesday.

However, after the match, skipper Temba Bavuma was delighted with how the Proteas progressed in the series, and believes his side have ticked all the boxes, especially with the World Cup just a few months away.

"Very happy, came in under a lot of pressure for World Cup points, done ourselves justice against a top side. We've challenged ourselves, a lot of learnings, a lot of confidence in how we've gone about it. Guys going out and expressing themselves. Looking to be positive, how England play their cricket.

We've seen something different with our batters. A lot of boxes ticked in the series. Guys will keep playing in the same vein, want it to become part of our culture. Even in Test cricket. Winning the series in the main series, super-happy for the team, and I'm finding the gaps again. I'm a happy captain standing here at the moment."

Talking about the third ODI, England posted a mammoth 346, courtesy of  brilliant hundreds from Jos Buttler and Dawid Malan. In reply, South Africa started in an aggressive way, but lost the plot as Jofra Archer bagged a 6-for to derail the chase.
