After losing back-to-back matches against South Africa, England finally managed to pull one back to defeat the hosts by 59 runs in the final game of the series.

Jos Buttler and Jofra Archer were the stars of the show, as England finally won an ODI game after 5 attempts.

Buttler scored a sublime 131 off 127 balls to set up a daunting 347 for South Africa to chase. In reply, South Africa started on a positive note, but it was the returning Archer who did the damage, picking up 6 for 40 to rattle the home side.

After an enthralling series, Buttler was ecstatic with the win and was happy to finish the series on a high.

"Nice to finish with a win today, we've played some brilliant cricket apart from the last 10-15 overs of the chase in the first game. Both teams wanted to bowl first, they struck early, then to build a partnership, go on to make 346 after being 20 for 3 was fantastic.

We thought we'll look to build a partnership, things will get easier at some point, the boundaries weren't big and we knew with the depth we had, the power-hitters, we could make it up later," said Buttler.

The England skipper also praise Jofra Archer for his match-winning efforts with the ball.

"We haven't had some players out here, Jofra was outstanding, both with the new ball and in the back end, the wicket of Klaasen was the game breaker. A lot of guys have played plenty of cricket and are leaders themselves, we have a strong squad, we have a good bond and are building towards India later this year for the World Cup."

With the ODI series done and dusted, England will now travel to New Zealand for a two-match Test series.
