Pakistan will begin their T20 World Cup 2022 campaign against arch-rivals India on Sunday and captain Babar Azam will be hoping to lead his side to a morale-boosting win.

Babar Azam has been one of the batters in the world across formats for a while now. He will be crucial to Pakistan's hopes of doing well in the marquee event over the next month.

The Pakistan skipper will be eyeing individual as well as collective glory in Australia.

Azam is on the cusp of a special captaincy record and he could surpass Indian legend MS Dhoni over the course of the tournament to clinch a remarkable record.

Apparently, the Indian stalwart has scored the most runs as captain in T20I World Cups with 529 runs in 33 innings. Babar Azam is now closing in on the wicketkeeper-batter and the Pakistan ace is currently just 226 runs shy of Dhoni's tally.

Meanwhile, New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson is second on the list and he is just 168 runs behind the former Indian captain. It remains to be seen whether the likes of Azam and Williamson can surpass the Indian legend over the next few weeks.
