Despite enjoying prolific success in T20Is, star Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav has not quite made his mark in the ODIs, failing to capitalise on the frequent chances he has been given in the 50-over format.
Continuing his poor run in ODIs, the Mumbai batter recorded two consecutive ducks in the ongoing home series against Australia. His struggle against moving ball was evident, as Mitchell Starc trapped him plumb in front in both games without breaking a sweat.
As India's Mr 360 aims at redemption, former Australian captain Aaron Finch has advised him to be a little proactive against the incoming delivery.
Finch, who led Australia to their maiden T20 World Cup title in 2021, also reckoned that the in-form Shubman Gill would be gutted to get out on playable deliveries.
Here's what Finch stated
"Suryakumar got two beauties from Mitch Starc. But he knows where he would've been bowling, he's got to be sharper than that in the first couple of balls,
"I think Shubman Gill played a couple of loose shots, which would disappoint him especially after being in such good form. He was caught at backward point to not great deliveries. If you get knocked over as an opening batter by a genuine delivery, you can accept that. But when you get out when you are in such good form, you get so disappointed."
With the series levelled at one-all, both teams will look to clinch it by winning the decider in Chennai on Wednesday.
