Over the years, legendary Australian batter Steve Smith has been a thorn in India's plans for success.

However, so far, in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023, the star batter has been kept quiet by Indian spinners. Across the two Tests, Smith has managed just 71 runs, which is way below his standards.

Meanwhile, Australian batting coach Michael Di Venuto has revealed that Smith, who generally enjoys batting in India, was frustrated at getting out cheaply in Delhi Test.

Smith, like his teammates, got out while sweeping Ravichandran Ashwin in the Delhi Test, which India won by six wickets, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead.

As quoted by India Today, Di Venuto said that the 32-year-old made it quite clear in the dressing room about his disappointment last week.

Here's what Di Venuto said

"I have not spoken to him yet about that, and where he's at. But he's excited about these conditions; he loves these conditions. It will be frustrating for him at the moment that he hasn't had the impact he would have wanted. He was certainly disappointed when he got out, and he made it known in the dressing room it was a poor shot. I think most people would have heard that, so they should have had a fair idea of what not to do."

Speaking about the sweep shot, Di Venuto praised opener Usman Khawaja for executing his plans properly in the first innings of the Delhi Test.

Both teams will clash in Indore on March 1, which will play host to the third Test of the BGT.
