On Saturday, August 2, India seamer Akash Deep hogged the internet after the 28-year-old shone with the bat for the visitors. The right-arm seamer was forced to bat late on Day 2 as India lost two wickets and the Shubman Gill-led side sent Deep as a night watchman to play the remaining overs.

Contrary to everyone's expectation, Akash brought up his maiden Test fifty and scored a brilliant 66 (94), which featured 12 boundaries. The fans, pundits and entire cricketing fraternity were proud of the effort by the 28-year-old.

Akash Deep's Massive Six At The Gabba Left Virat, Rohit Impressed

Notably, it was not the first time that Akash Deep left everyone stunned with his batting prowess, and the right-handed batter stole the limelight during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2025, where Virat Kohli was taken aback by the bowler's batting.

Notably, it was the Brisbane Test during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2025, when India were reduced to 213/9 in the first innings, which Australia put 445 runs on the board. As the visitors headed for a trail, Akash Deep rose to the occasion and amassed a crucial 31 (44), which featured two fours and a solitary six.

Notably, the knock at Gabba was Akash's best batting figures until the Oval Test. The highlight of the Brisbane Test was when Deep whacked a six off Pat Cummins' bowling, which left Virat Kohli gasping for air in the dressing room.

Virat was stunned by the quality of the shot and stood up from his seat with his usual animated behaviour. The 36-year-old clapped for Deep and laughed as the 28-year-old used his MRF bat to hit Cummins for a maximum.

Prior to the six, Deep had also hit a four that left Virat Kohli pumped and the former India captain also shared his excitement with Rohit Sharma, sitting besides him.
