All Big Bash League (BBL) sides are making their final few adjustments to their squads ahead of the upcoming 2022-23 edition, which begins today. The Adelaide Strikers, who take on the Sydney Sixers on Wednesday, unveiled their 13-man squad for the encounter, which saw fast bowler Jordan Buckingham included.

Buckingham joins the Strikers as a replacement player, with Travis Head and Alex Carey away on international duties for Australia. The 22-year-old recently played against touring South Africa in their warm-up match against Cricket Australia XI.

Buckingham has played five First-Class matches for South Australia and claimed 16 wickets with a best of 4 for 48.

In a statement, Buckingham revealed that he cannot wait to get on the field in blue jersey.

“It’s my first opportunity in BBL and I can’t wait to give it a crack with the Strikers. I’m excited to train alongside some of my Redbacks teammates and learn from some of the interstate and international additions to the BBL side.”

Coach Jason Gillespie looked forward to Buckingham's journey with Strikers.

"We love the way Jordan goes about it – he runs in hard all day and trains as hard as he plays. He deserves an opportunity at this level and we look forward to seeing how he goes.”

Several players like Colin de Grandhomme, Adam Hose, Chris Lynn, and Ben Manenti will be in-line for Strikers' debut tomorrow against the Sydney Sixers.
