Imad Wasim has reckoned that he doesn't have any standing issue with Babar Azam but urged the skipper to take control of the selection matters.

Wasim, who last played for Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2021 has time and again asked the reason for dropping him from the squad.

The bowling all-rounder returned with four wickets in six games, with the finest economy of 5.70. In his last international outing, Wasim conceded 25 runs off three overs against Australia.

However, the likes of Mohammad Nawaz and Khushdil Shah have taken his place in the squad this year.

Although Nawaz has impressed with his exploits with the bat, Khushdil has lost his place in the Playing XI due to inconsistent performances.

Wasim recently returned as the third highest wicket-taker in the Caribbean Premier League 2022, with 17 wickets and also scored 138 runs in 13 games for Jamaica Tallawahs.

In his latest interview with Pakpassion.net, the 33-year-old put all the speculations to rest by lauding Babar for his captaincy. However, he added that Babar needs to be involved in team selections, which can help the team in getting results in their favour on most occasions.

"I have absolutely no issues with Babar Azam as he is the captain of Pakistan and a world-class player as well.

"Babar is doing a great job as Pakistan captain at this time, but he has to take control of selection matters and become more accountable because, at the end of the day, he is the one leading the team on the field and such issues will affect his team’s results."

It will be interesting to see whether Wasim gets national recall in the ODI series against New Zealand in January next year.
