Macleod's finest ODI knock of 175 off 141 came against Canada in the 2014 ODI World Cup Qualifiers.

In the T20 World Cup Qualifiers in 2019, the 33-year-old smashed 74 off 37, which was his best T20I knock.

Reflecting on his decision to retire from the game, Macleod revealed that the game between Scotland and Australia in 1999 World Cup inspired him to take cricket as a career.

Although Macleod regrets of Scotland not qualifying for Super 12 of T20 World Cup, he thinks the team has enough talent to progress well and inspire younger generations of the country.

Calum Macleod's statement

"Having announced my retirement to the team a few days ago, I'm sitting here thinking back to what inspired me in the first place and that would be the Scotland versus Australia game at the 1999 World Cup,

“Finishing after this World Cup in Australia has been tough because we didn’t manage to achieve what we wanted to achieve, but I leave the group with a real sense of hope that, with the right backing and the right opportunities, the current team can really go far and can inspire many."
