Former India opener Aakash Chopra has seconded off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin's idea of starting the ICC World Cup 2023 matches early to negate any dew in the second innings.

The marquee event will be held in India between October and November, and several venues will be affected by dew.

India captain Rohit Sharma and bowling coach Paras Mhambrey did show their liking but said that the decision did not lie in their hands.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Chopra added that conditions, regardless of dew, will favour the team batting second and that it will be difficult to regulate an early start.

Here's what Chopra explained

"Principally, in theory, it makes a lot of sense. If Ashwin talks, there will be sense. I don't think he would be saying anything without consideration. If he has said it, it carries weight, and it is a fact that dew comes later,

"Even if the dew doesn't come, assuming you have sprayed a lot, a slight film is formed, the ball becomes a little damp and the pitch becomes favorable for batting and it becomes slightly skewed in favor of the team that's batting second."

The former KKR batter said that early timing might not work well in regards to broadcasters, who could see TRP fall during prime time.
