The much-awaited India-Pakistan game in Colombo has been shifted to reserve day, as rain gods continue to create frustration among all stakeholders. The game was halted in the 25th over of India's innings and there was a glimmer of hope of 9 PM Start when rain stopped after a brief heavy shower. However, the rain returned around 8:30 PM and it was quite heavy, forcing match officials to shift the game to reserve day.

The match will resume from the 25th over itself on the reserve day - 11th of September and it will be a full 50-over game which is a good news for fans. However, there is a possibility of rain on the reserve day too and let's hope for a bright and clear day on Monday.

Talking about the match, Pakistan won the toss and elected to bowl first, hoping that their bowlers would make early inroads. However, Indian openers, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill started off with a bang and compiled a 121-run stand in just 100 balls as both of them got to their fifties in quick time. However, Pakistan fought back with two quick wickets as Shadab Khan got rid of Rohit Sharma and then Gill was dismissed by a lovely slower delivery by Shaheen Afridi. India will resume their innings from 147/2 with Virat Kohli batting on 8 and KL Rahul on 17.

Notably, this is the only game in the Asia Cup that has a reserve day, which in itself is an unprecedented move in a multi-nation event. So, let’s hope the rain stays away on the reserve day and cricket takes the centrestage in this all-important Asia Cup Super Fours game.
