Pakistan's steamrolled over Nepal on Wednesday in the opening match of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 in Multan, winning the encounter by 238 runs. Despite the victory, Pakistan were left concerned after ace pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi left the field after bowling just five overs.

Afridi, who claimed two wickets in his first over, was seen expressing discomfort on the boundary line to medical staff, before going off the field in the ninth over. In his five-over spell, Afridi gave away 27 runs and claimed key wickets of Kushal Bhurtel and Nepal skipper Rohit Paudel.

Cramps could be a reason behind Afridi leaving the field, as temperatures in Multan soared as high as 38 degrees Celsius. The 24-year-old did not come back to finish his spell.

Shaheen Afridi injury worries for Pakistan

Afridi is making a comeback to international cricket after a long injury layoff, having missed the Asia Cup T20 2022 as well.

Famous commentator Harsha Bhogle also took to 'X' and expressed his views about the Lahore Qalandars captain not looking in rhythm.

Afridi presence is crucial for Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2023 and the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. With India being Pakistan's next opponent, Afridi becomes an even more scary prospect, having had tremendous success against the likes of Rohit Sharma and Co.

The Babar Azam-led XI will travel to Sri Lanka, and clash against rivals India on September 2 at Pallekele.
