Mumbai Indians' (MI) journey in the IPL 2023 came to an end following their 62-run defeat in Qualifier 2 against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday. However, the concerning news for Indian cricket fans was the injury sustained by MI skipper captain, Rohit Sharma.

During an attempt to catch a ball off Gujarat Titans' captain Hardik Pandya, Rohit injured his left thumb. The extent of the injury remains uncertain, but it appears to be less severe as he was able to continue batting during Mumbai Indians' chase. Unfortunately, his time at the crease was short-lived as Mohammed Shami dismissed him after scoring just eight runs.

In addition to Rohit's injury, Mumbai Indians also had another injury scare during the match. Ishan Kishan suffered an unfortunate blow while colliding with his teammate Chris Jordan. Kishan walked off the field while holding the left side of his forehead and did not return to bat. As a result, Vishnu Vinod was named as the concussion substitute for Kishan.

Both Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan are part of the Indian squad for the upcoming World Test Championship Final (WTC) against Australia. While Rohit is set to lead the team, Kishan serves as a backup wicketkeeper to KS Bharat. Their presence and contributions are vital to India's chances in the highly anticipated WTC final. The prestigious match will take place at The Oval in London, starting from June 7.

As the cricketing world eagerly awaits the high-voltage WTC fina;, the status of Rohit's thumb injury and Kishan's recovery remain subjects of concern. The Indian team will be hoping for their quick recuperation as they prepare for the challenging encounter that awaits them at The Oval.
