Mumbai Indians (MI) all-rounder Cameron Green has garnered high praise from former cricketer Aakash Chopra, who commended the Australian all-rounder for once again showcasing his value at the top of the batting order in the IPL 2023 Eliminator against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday.

In a scintillating display of power hitting, Green bludgeoned a blistering 41 off just 23 deliveries, bolstering Rohit Sharma and his teammates as they set a formidable target of 183 runs for the Lucknow Super Giants in the intense clash held in Chennai on Wednesday, May 24.

Adding to Mumbai Indians' dominance, Akash Madhwal produced an exceptional bowling performance, claiming a remarkable five-wicket haul (5/5). This exceptional display propelled the five-time champions to a comprehensive 81-run victory, securing their place in Qualifier 2 against the Gujarat Titans.

Chopra reflected on Green’s batting performance and his position in a video posted on his YouTube channel. He stated that Green showcased his ability to score runs at the top, highlighting the significance of consistently deploying him at the No. 3 position. The former opener further emphasized that by shifting the all-rounder lower in the batting order, his value and potential were undermined, as it diminished his value and hampered his ability to contribute effectively.

"Cameron Green scored runs. Another story is that if you play him at No. 3 regularly, he will give you runs. You yourself halved his stature when you moved him down the order. It is not enjoyable when you send him down the order,” said Chopra.

With their comprehensive victory, Mumbai Indians displayed their dominance in the IPL yet again, setting the stage for a thrilling encounter against the Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2. The exploits of Cameron Green, along with the commendable contributions from the rest of the middle-order, have undoubtedly bolstered the five-time IPL champions' chances of securing another shot at lifting the coveted IPL trophy.
