It seems as if the MS Dhoni fairytale ending may not happen in the IPL 2023 final on May 28. The CSK captain may get banned from participating in the final for intentionally wasting time in the Qualifier 1 against the Gujarat Titans.

As per reports, Dhoni, who has already been fined once this season for the breach of code of conduct, may get a one-match ban and in all likelihood will miss the final of the IPL 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

During GT's run-chase in the final few overs, MS Dhoni could be seen having an argument with the on-field umpires which caused a four-minute delay.

The event occurred during the 16th over of the contest, when Matheesha Pathirana was not allowed to bowl his second over. The fast bowler had taken a nine-minute break from the play to treat his niggle, and when he returned to bowl, the umpires stopped him and had a conversation with skipper MS Dhoni regarding Pathirana not completing the stipulated time on the field after the break.

As per the IPL rules, any player who leaves the field for more than eight minutes, has to be on the field for a similar amount of time before he is eligible to continue his overs. But as soon as Pathirana came back on the field, he was given the task to bowl the 16th over, which the umpires objected.

Dhoni had a near five-minute argument with the umpires, and he was warned that the team could face the penalty for slow over-rate .

Talking about the match, CSK won the Qualifier 1 convincingly and have reached the finals of the IPL 2023.
