Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians (MI) emerged victorious over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL 2023 Eliminator, securing an emphatic victory by a margin of 81 runs. Displaying their prowess in both batting and bowling, MI set a formidable target of 183 runs for Krunal Pandya and his team before successfully dismantling their opponents for a mere 101 runs.

During the post-match discussion on Star Sports, former Indian head coach, Ravi Shastri, shed light on the significant role played by Rohit and how he exhibits a distinct demeanour as a captain during the high-stakes playoff stages of the Indian Premier League.

Shastri emphasized that the team's remarkable accomplishment of clinching five IPL titles under Rohit's leadership underscores the crucial role he plays as a mentor and elder brother figure within the team. Furthermore, he noted a discernible shift in the MI captain’s demeanour during the playoffs, describing a distinct change in his body language and energy levels.

According to the erstwhile all-rounder, Rohit adopts a fearless attitude, seemingly unaffected by the challenges faced during the season, displaying a mindset that prioritizes forging ahead and giving their all in pursuit of victory.

"Very important because they have won five titles under his captaincy. His body language and energy are different in playoffs. He will think let it go to hell what has happened in this season,” said Shastri.

Shastri went on to explain that Rohit's approach is not solely based on performance with the bat, but rather on instilling a collective team spirit and unity among the players.

"He might have scored runs or not but once they have reached the playoffs, they can win it. So let us bring our A-game to the table, let us go together as a team and attack and see what happens,” added the 60-year-old.

With Mumbai Indians' resounding victory in the Eliminator their remarkable journey in the IPL 2023 continues unabated. As they brace themselves to face Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2, the team will undoubtedly draw inspiration from their skipper as they strive to add another title to their illustrious IPL legacy.
