Shubman Gill is one of the brightest young talents in world cricket currently and is growing from strength to strength with each passing day. In the final league game of IPL 2023, against RCB, he created another record by notching up second consecutive IPL century which eliminated RCB and brought MI into the playoffs of IPL 2023.

Gill was awarded player of the match award for his spectacular century and during his interview, Gill mentioned that in the first half of the IPL he was getting starts but was failing to convert those into big ones. He, however, added that he is happy now to get big scores in the business end of the tournament.

"It's all about getting the start and then converting it into a big one. I felt in the first half I was getting 40s and 50s but thankfully it's working out well at the business end. You have to keep the intent and keep applying yourself,"

Gill stated that the new ball was holding a bit and it got easier as the game progressed. He also felt that it was difficult for the spinners to grip the ball due to the wetness caused by rain. He added that he told Shankar to just hold his shape instead of trying to hit it hard.

"I think the new ball was holding a bit, as the game went on it became easier, with the rain it was difficult for the spinners to attain the grip due to wetness. The conversation was for him to just hold and keep shape instead of going hard at it which paid off in the end, "

The GT opener also mentioned that he knows his game well and his areas while batting. He also talked about the Qualifier 1 against CSK at Chennai and added that they have a good bowling attack for those conditions.

"I know my game and it's important for me to be in that area, and it's important to know where you stand. It's going to an important one against Chennai, but this is the business end and we have got the bowlers to play well on that wicket. Hopefully we win that one and make it to 2 finals in a row."

GT will now face CSK in the Qualifier 1 on Tuesday, 23rd of May and it would be a cracking game between two best teams of the season.
