Virat Kohli Slams Second IPL Century in A Row; Shatters Chris Gayle's Record

Virat Kohli is a legend and there is hardly anyone who can doubt his greatness. For over a decade now, he has performed day in and day out under pressure across formats for India and is one of the greatest batters ever to play the game.

In the IPL too, he has been delivering for RCB right from the inaugural season and has set the stage on fire again in IPL 2023. Virat has smashed two centuries in a row in two must-win games against SRH and GT respectively and has broken Chris Gayle's record of most centuries in the IPL. His century against GT, is his seventh in the IPL and the most for any batter in the IPL.

Talking about this knock against GT, it was vintage Kohli, displaying his full range under pressure. He initially got good support from Faf du Plessis but then kept losing his partners from the other end as he held one end up. However, Kohli continued to mix caution with aggression nicely and eventually got to his century with a single on the first delivery of the final over of RCB’s innings.

Kohli’s knock took RCB to a good total of 197-5 at the end of their 20 overs in the game they desperately needed to win to qualify for the playoffs. However, it all went in vain as GT chased down the target on the back of scintillating century by Shubman Gill.

Virat Kohli's four centuries came in the 2016 IPL season while the fifth one came in the 2019 season. He had a bad 2022 season and it seemed that Kohli's T20 career was fading away, but the King has roared back in style with some stupendous performances both in international cricket and in IPL 2023.
