Cameron Green Pushes MI's Playoff With Breathtaking Century

The young Australian all-rounder Cameron Green was earmarked as a special talent back coming into the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction last year. Bought by Mumbai Indians (MI) for a record ₹17.5 Crore, the classic batter has paid back the faith shown in him by smashing a thrilling century against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a do-or-die game at Wankhede Stadium.

The 100-run knock that consisted of eight-sixes and as many fours has helped MI to stay in the playoff contention as they have now reached 16 points after the completion of their league stage games.

Green has been in invaluable form with 381 runs in 14 games at an average of around 160 where he has managed two half-centuries and a hundred.

Adding to this, the 23-year-old is a handy pace-bowling option as he has picked up six wickets, providing his team with variety and a sixth option.

Also, Green became the ninth centurion of this season after classy knocks from Yashasvi Jaiswal,  Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli,  Suryakumar Yadav, Heinrich Klaasen, Venkatesh Iyer, Prabhsimran Singh and Harry Brook stole the limelight.

Talking about his knock in the game, Cameron started to hit boundaries right from the start as they were on a quest to finish inside 12 overs to get past Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on an NRR basis. Unfortunately, they were only able to chase down the score by the end of 18 overs which has kept their rate below that of their rivals.

SRH batted first and posted 200 on the board as two wonderful innings from Mayank Agarwal and Vivrant Sharma provided them with a good start. In the end, MI were given a flying start by skipper Rohit Sharma and later, Green took the responsibility to finish the game alongside Suryakumar Yadav.
