Against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians' captain Rohit Sharma is leading his side from the front in a do-or-die affair at Wankhede on Sunday. Not just he smashed his second half-century of the season, Rohit also amassed a couple more records at his home ground - one of which was becoming the second Indian batter to notch 11000 T20 runs.

The MI captain completed the major milestone in his 408th T20 innings. Furthermore, he also became the first MI batter with 5000-plus runs in the Indian Premier League.

With this, Rohit has become only the second Indian batter, after Virat Kohli, to cross the 11K landmark in the shortest format. Aside from Keiron Pollard and Aaron Finch, he has also been the third batter from MI to go over the milestone.

Players with most T20 runs:-

  • Chris Gayle - 14562 runs (455 innings)
  • Shoaib Malik* - 12528 runs (474 innings)
  • Kieron Pollard - 12175 runs (555 innings)
  • Virat Kohli* - 11864 runs (356 innings)
  • David Warner* - 11609 runs (354 innings)
  • Aaron Finch* - 11392 runs (376 innings)
  • Rohit Sharma* - 11016 runs (408 innings)

In a chase of 201 runs, the stylish right-handed batter led from the front in a do-or-die clash, and their best batter returned to the form in the match that mattered the most. After Ishan Kishan went back to the hut early, Rohit took on the challenge and started attacking the SRH bowlers alongside Cameron Green.

He did get a few lifelines, but as they say, luck also favours the brave. He kept pushing Hyderabad's back against the wall with his lusty strokeplay but ended the night on 56. However, Cam Green finished off the job with his maiden T20 century.

After that win, MI got to 16 points, but they still need to qualify for the playoffs because Bangalore versus Gujarat's result could knock the five-time champions out of the tournament.
