Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) play host to Gujarat Titans (GT) in the last league match of the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Match No. 70 is scheduled to take place on a doubleheader Sunday, May 21, 2023, at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore at 19.30 PM IST. Both sides will meet each other for the first and only time in the league stage of this season. However, before the game goes live, here is a look at the RCB vs GT head-to-head record.

The Royal Challengers have had a mixed campaign as they have played 13 matches with 7 victories and 6 defeats. If they snatch a victory in their last encounter they should qualify for the next round.

Last Match: RCB played their last game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Match No.65 in Hyderabad where the visitors won the contest handsomely by a margin of 8 wickets courtesy of Virat Kohli's century.

Captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to field first. SRH's innings was all about wicketkeeper batter Heinrich Klaasen who smacked a magnificent hundred. The right-handed batter hammered 104 off just 51 with the help of 8 fours and 6 maximums. Courtesy of his knock, SRH posted a total of 186/5 on the board. New Zealander Michael Bracewell took 2 wickets for 13 runs in his 2-over spell.

In reply, Faf and Kohli grabbed the limelight as they put on a staggering 172-run opening stand. The former got dismissed for 71 off 47 while Kohli brought up his sixth century in the IPL. He scored 100 off just 63 which included 12 fours and 4 maximums as the Royal Challengers completed the chase in 19.2 overs.

GT in IPL 2023

The defending champions have truly played like one as they have appeared in 13 matches with 9 wins and just 4 losses. With 18 points, they became the first team to seal a spot in the  Playoffs. Though, the Titans will look to spoil RCB's party by claiming all 2 points.

Last Match: Hardik Pandya's side played their last game against SRH in Match No. 62 in Ahmedabad where they defeated the Orange Army by a margin of 34 runs thanks to Shubman Gill's maiden IPL ton.

Captain Aiden Markram won the toss and elected to field first. As mentioned, youngster Gill reached the three figure-mark for the first time as he racked up 101 off just 58 with 13 fours and a maximum. Left-hander Sai Sudharsan scored 47 off 36 as the Titans posted a total of 188/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled brilliantly for his spell of 5/30 (4).

Chasing 189, Klaasen again proved his worth as he amassed 64 off 44. The right-handed player failed to get support from any other player as the Sunrisers got restricted to 154/9 in 20 overs. Seamers Mohammed Shami and Mohit Sharma snared 4 scalps each for GT. For his classy hundred, Gill won the Player of the Match award.

The Royal Challengers and the Titans last met in Match No. 67 of IPL 2022 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai where RCB beat GT by a margin of 8 wickets.

The Titans batted first and posted a total of 168/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Captain Hardik Pandya led his side from the front by scoring 62* off 47. Hard-hitter David Miller struck 34 off 25 his side surpassed the  165-run mark. Pacer Josh Hazlewood was the pick of the RCB bowlers for his spell of 2/39 (4).
