#1 PBKS vs DC, IPL 2023

This is by far the most fascinating encounter to ever take place in recent times. The 64th fixture of the IPL 2023 edition turned out to be a high-scoring thriller. While DC were knocked out from the playoffs race, it was a must-win game for PBKS who were eyeing a playoff spot.

DC made a bright start to their first as David Warner and Prithvi Shaw scored some brisk runs at the top of the order, before Rilee Rossouw (82 off 37) took over and launched a blistering attack on the PBKS bowlers dispatching them to all parts. Thanks to the South African's blistering show Delhi got to a monstrous total of 213/2.

PBKS made a very subdued start to their chase. Without a run on the board, they lost their skipper and soon after their star batter Prabhsimran Singh inside the first 7 overs. With the run rate slowing down with each passing over, Liam Livingstone walked to the crease and decided to take the matter into his own hands.

Just like Rossouw, he too played a blinder of an innings (94 off 48) to get his side close to the required target. With 33 needed in the last over, things really turned interesting when Livingstone clobbered a waist-high no-ball to deep extra cover for a six. Not only did he get one bonus run, it also meant that he would receive an extra delivery which really made the crowd go wild. But much to their despair, Livingstone failed to connect it and in the end, PBKS fell short by 16 runs.

#2  KXIP vs CSK, IPL 2010

This game belong to our beloved "Captain Cool" MS Dhoni who kept his calm and delivered two lusty blows at the backend of the second innings to power the men in yellow to a dramatic win. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) endured a topsy-turvy ride in the league phase of IPL 2010 edition and needed nothing short of a win in Dharamsala to make the playoffs. CSK bowlers had a very bad day at the office as four of their frontline bowlers went over 10 runs per over. Shaun Marsh, Kumar Sangakkara and Irfan Pathan seized this opportunity and scored 88 (57), 33 (24) and 44 (27) respectively propelling Kings to 192/3.

CSK lost early wickets at the start and Dhoni later arrived at the middle to take things forward with Badrinath, who notched up a half-century himself. It all came down to the final over when 16 runs were needed. Irfan Pathan had the ball in hand and the CSK skipper hammered the left-arm seamer for two towering sixes over wide long on to seal a dramatic win, which then saw him vent out his emotion as he pumped his helmet in the process.

#3 KXIP vs RCB, IPL 2011

During the 63rd match of the IPL 2011 edition, a red-hot Adam Gilchrist took down a resurgent RCB side who came into that fixture with seven consecutive wins. It was certainly a day to remember for the Punjab fans as Gilchrist and Shaun Marsh put together a robust 206-run stand for the second wicket to skittle RCB out for a shambolic total.

Gilchrist racked a colossal 106 which came at an astronomical strike rate of over 190. His innings featured nine sixes and four fours. Together with his partner at the other end, the hosts finished on a high with a mammoth total of 232/2. Even with an in-form Chris Gayle through their ranks, the total proved far too steep for RCB, who never got going the moment the Jamaican was dismissed for a duck.

Only AB de Villiers offered some resistance with a 27-ball 34 as Piyush Chawla snared four wickets for the Kings, bundling RCB out for a paltry 121 to register a thumping win.

#4 KXIP vs MI, IPL 2013

The 2013 season for KXIP was not the greatest and were out of playoff contention when they prepared to lock horns with Mumbai Indians. In this dead rubber match, the Kings rode along the heroics of Shaun Marsh and Azhar Mahmood who shared a massive 148-run stand for the third wicket which powered KXIP to 183-8 in their allotted 20 overs.

Some good tight bowling from the Kings featuring Azhar Mahmood, Praveen Kumar and Piyush Chawla restricted MI well short of the required target. However, it is not their win which raised a few eyebrows. The moment came in the final over of the match when Adam Gilchrist, decided to roll his arm over. And much to his surprise, he was rewarded with a wicket on the very first ball of his IPL career and started celebrating in a style very reminiscent of the Gangnam Style step that Chris Gayle popularized.

#5 Deccan Chargers vs KXIP, IPL 2011

The 67th fixture of the IPL 2011 edition saw a rise of a new batting legend. During this fixture between DC and KXIP, Shikhar Dhawan shot to fame by registering a swashbuckling knock of 95* (57) which steamrolled the Kings by a massive 82 runs. Dhawan and Ravi Teja did not allow the KXIP bowlers to settle down and wrecked absolute carnage during the first ten overs. They put on an unassailable 131-run stand for the first wicket which powered DC to a record total of 198-2.

Adam Gilchrist and Shaun Marsh offered a fair amount of resistance but with the arrival of Amit Mishra into the attack, the Kings started losing wickets in clusters and lost 8 wickets in a matter of 33 runs. Shikhar Dhawan was later adjudged man of the match for his breathtaking heroics with the bat. From there on, Dhawan became a much-improved cricketer as in a couple of years' time, he cemented his place in the national side as a frontline opener.
