Ravi Shastri Identifies Two Youngsters as Standout Performers of IPL 2023

In a recent episode of ICC Review, former Team India coach Ravi Shastri bestowed high praise upon Rajasthan Royals' Yashasvi Jaiswal and Kolkata Knight Riders' Rinku Singh for their outstanding performances in IPL 2023.
Shastri expressed his belief that these two talented cricketers possess the necessary hunger, passion, and desire to seamlessly transition into international cricket. Moreover, he suggested that they could potentially make a compelling case for inclusion in the Indian team for the upcoming World Cup later this year.
The former Indian coach specifically lauded the progress shown by Yashasvi Jaiswal, noting a marked improvement in his game compared to the previous year.
"One is (Yashasvi) Jaiswal, simply because of the way he's played this season. And for me it is a marked improvement from what I saw from him last year, which is a very, very positive sign,” said Shastri.
The cricketer-turned-commentator was impressed by Jaiswal's increased power and the way he skill-fully maneuvered his shots, hitting the ball into various pockets of the ground.
“Just the power with which he's re-taking shots. Just the pockets he's hitting around the ground as opposed to last year is very good," he added.
Rinku Singh received similar acclaim from Shastri. The erstwhile cricketer highlighted the KKR star's remarkable temperament and toughness, describing him as someone who possesses an unwavering drive to succeed.
"The other bloke is Rinku Singh, which is a great story. The more I see of him, that guy has got a fabulous temperament. He's tough as nails. Both these guys have come through very hard backgrounds,” stated the Indian veteran.
Shastri further emphasized that both Jaiswal and Rinku hail from challenging backgrounds and have had to overcome significant obstacles on their journey to the top. He attributed their hunger, passion, and determination to their arduous upbringing, underscoring the invaluable traits that have propelled them forward in their careers.
"They've worked very hard initially in their lives and nothing's come easy for them. So you can see that hunger, that passion, that drive that is so needed to make it to the top,” concluded Shastri.
Jaiswal's exceptional performance in the IPL 2023 cannot be overstated, as he emerged as one of the most formidable top-order batsmen throughout the tournament. Accumulating a staggering 575 runs with an impressive average of 47.92 and a strike rate of 166.18.
