Shubman Gill has been batting like a dream since the start of 2023, and the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) is no different for the Indian and Gujarat Titans opener. On Monday, Gill smashed his maiden century in the lucrative league at his beloved venue in Ahmedabad.

Statistically, the Titans' den is Gill's favourite cricketing venue. And interestingly, both his maiden T20I hundred and first IPL ton came at the venue, which showcases his fondness for the Narendra Modi Stadium.

While coining Gill's fondness for Ahmedabad, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag called it a love story that has turned into a marriage.

"This was the biggest chapter added. I would rather say that it's now a marriage. The love story has transformed into marriage. It looked like he was batting on a completely different surface. He was scoring boundaries easily but all other batters were struggling," Sehwag said on Cricbuzz post Gujarat's emphatic win over Hyderabad.

Despite the stylish 23-year-old's remarkable ton on Monday, Gujarat could only notch up 188/9 as GT's middle and lower middle crumbled against Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who ended with 5-30.

Even Gill was heavily criticised as he slowed down when he was inching closer to the three-figure mark. Nevertheless, this season has been his best year in terms of both runs and strike rate.

In IPL 2023, the stylish batter has amassed 576 runs in 13 innings at an enthralling strike rate of 146.19 with an average of 48.
