The star performer for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) during their clash against Mumbai Indians (MI), Mohsin Khan emerged as an unlikely hero after returning from an injury that kept him out of action for the last year. The left-arm pacer defended 11 runs off the final over against the likes of Tim David and Cameron Green to take his side to a victory by a margin of 5 runs in an intense thriller.

Earlier, LSG batted first and posted 177 on the board courtesy of a powerful innings from Marcus Stoinis who banged 89 runs not out off just 47 balls with the help of his eight massive sixes. In reply, Mumbai faltered at the very wrong time as at one stage they were looking in complete control of the game.

After the match ended, Mohsin who delivered wonderful figures of one for 26 explained what was going through his mind during the final stages of the match. He mentioned that calming himself down helped him in many ways as the slower balls were not very easy to hit.

Further, Khan got quite emotional due to the fact that his father was in ICU for the last few days and got discharged yesterday only. Additionally, his father must be so proud of his effort which is a huge moment for him personally.

"I was trying to calm myself down, not look at the scoreboard and bowl the 6 balls well. Since the wicket was gripping, I tried the slower ball, but I bowled two of those and then changed to the yorker and it was reversing as well. Been a tough time as I was injured, playing after a year. My father got discharged from the ICU yesterday and he was in the hospital for the last 10 days and I did it for him, he would have been watching. I'm grateful to the team and the support staff, Gautam [Gambhir] sir, Vijay [Dahiya] sir for playing me this game even though I did not do well last game."

Lucknow, post this victory, will next collide against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on 20th May at Eden Gardens.
