'Suryakumar Yadav Can Be Permanent No. 3,' Opines Virender Sehwag

Suryakumar Yadav has been the backbone of Mumbai Indians batting line up ever since joining them. This year, too, he is their leading run scorer with 479 runs from 12 matches at an average of 43.54 and a strike-rate of 190.83 with four half-centuries and a century. He got his maiden half century against Gujarat Titans on May 12. Yadav scored an unbeaten 103 off only 49 balls. His knock was laced with 11 boundaries and six maximums.

Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag feels that Yadav can be the permanent no. 3 for Mumbai Indians.

"SKY can be the permanent No. 3 for Mumbai Indians because he's a good player of pace and spin. Although it all boils down to the team management (when it comes to taking such decisions), but I strongly believe he should get to face more balls," Sehwag said on Star Sports' Cricket Live.

Since making his IPL debut in 2012, Yadav has played a total of 135 matches, from which he has 3123 runs at an average of 31.87 and a strike rate of almost 143. This includes 20 half centuries and a century.

Mumbai Indians started the season with a streak of losses but are now one of the teams who are most likely to make it to the playoffs. Mumbai, in fact, will finish in the top two if they win both of their remaining league games. They next play Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium on May 16.
