How many times it has happened that a commentator runs after a player to get his autograph? It happened during the Chennai Super Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders match, when Sunil Gavaskar, rushed towards CSK skipper MS Dhoni to get his autograph.

The Super Kings hosted their last game of the season at the Chepauk Stadium, which they eventually lost against the Knight Riders. The home team, CSK, posted a decent 144 for 6m batting first on a tricky surface.

In reply, after a jittery start, KKR crossed the winning line by 6-wickets, thanks to unbeaten fifties from Rinku Singh and skipper Nitish Rana. As a result, KKR have kept their playoff hopes alive.

After the game, the entire CSK side took a lap of the stadium, and thanked each and every fan for their constant support throughout the season.

During CSK's lap, Sunil Gavaskar, who was in the middle of a broadcast rushed towards MS Dhoni and asked for an autograph on his shirt.

Dhoni obliged and hugged Sunil Gavaskar, who went back to the broadcasting team. When asked about the special moment, Gavaskar talked about MS Dhoni's greatness and how the former India captain inspires the nation.

“Who doesn’t love MS Dhoni? What he has done for Indian cricket over the years, it’s been amazing. For me, the most important thing is the kind of role model he has been. There are so many youngsters in India who look up to him. The way he has handled himself is absolutely fantastic.”

He added: "I borrowed a pen as soon as I heard they are going to do this thing [taking a lap around the Chepauk]. So, I kept it with me. Thank you, so much."
