In the clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Chennai on Sunday, Rinku Singh, emerged as the undeniable hero, propelling his team to a remarkable victory with a sensational innings on a difficult surface.

Following this outstanding performance, renowned cricket commentator, Aakash Chopra, expressed his firm belief that Rinku has undoubtedly claimed the title of the finest finisher in the IPL 2023 season.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Chopra lavished praise on the young KKR middle-order batsman, asserting that Singh's contributions warrant greater recognition and appreciation from fans and experts alike.

Although Rinku's match-winning knock was highlighted by a scintillating display of power hitting, Chopra emphasized that it was not merely the five sixes that earned him such high acclaim.

"In my opinion, Rinku Singh is the best finisher in this season's IPL. No one is doing it better than him. We are not rewarding, acknowledging or appreciating him enough. He had hit five sixes but it's not about just those five sixes," said Chopra.

Drawing attention to Rinku's remarkable statistics, the former cricketer highlighted that the prodigious talent has amassed an impressive total of over 400 runs in the ongoing IPL season. According to him, this feat becomes all the more remarkable when compared to the top-order batsmen such as Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill who have amassed 438 runs and 475 runs respectively.

"He has scored more than 400 runs. The number at which the guy bats, 400 runs are not scored at all. Virat Kohli has 438 and Shubman Gill has 475 runs, and he (Rinku) has scored close to 410 runs," added the erstwhile opener.

Chopra eloquently elucidated that what sets the southpaw apart is his ability to deliver under pressure in diverse match situations. He reckoned that unlike the luxury afforded to top-order batsmen who often have the luxury of batting for the entirety of the innings, Rinku has consistently delivered impactful performances despite limited opportunities.

"We forget him because we acknowledge the top-order batters so much, although they have 20 overs and he has 15 balls at times, 35 balls on other occasions, or he comes at 30/3 as he came yesterday. He has been absolutely stellar," concluded Chopra.

During the clash against CSK, Rinku’s 43-ball 54 proved to be a masterpiece, embellished with four boundaries and three mighty sixes. Unfortunately, his valiant innings came to a bittersweet end when he was run out with a mere 13 runs required off three overs.
