Experienced Lucknow Super Giants batters Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran unleashed their vintage best, smashing young all-rounder Abhishek Sharma for five sixes in a single over during their team's twelfth group-stage encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The incident occurred towards the fag end of the game when Aiden Markram took a gamble, giving Abhishek Sharma the ball to bowl the 16th over. However, it backfired on the hosts, as Sharma conceded 31 runs, including five sixes hit by Stoinis and Pooran.
Chasing 183 to win, LSG were on the back foot at one stage, as their batters were struggling to get going. Although they had eight wickets in hand, the asking rate had become 13 runs per over, as they needed 68 runs to win in the final five overs.
However, Marcus Stoinis finally decided to go all out when he saw Sharma with the ball in his hand. After hitting him for two humongous sixes down the ground, the Australian all-rounder lost his wicket to the budding all-rounder while attempting for another one.
But Stoinis' departure didn't put an end to Sharma's miseries, as in came Nicholas Pooran, who hammered him for another three maximums to collect 31 runs off the over. In this process, he became the only second spinner after Rahul Sharma to be hit for five sixes in a single over.
The valiant efforts from these two batters swung the game into LSG's favour, as they gunned down the target with seven wickets and four balls to spare.
