There were only the chants of Surya, Surya when Gujarat and Mumbai were battling it out in the Wankhede Stadium on Friday. MI's brightest star shone like a sun as he slammed his maiden IPL hundred, which has to be one of the best played by any individual this season.

Thanks to his blistering efforts, Mumbai bagged a 27-run win over the table-toppers, and have got to the third position on the points table with 14 points after 12 matches.

After the game, the right-handed swashbuckling batter explained how he panned out his innings. He even let out his team's plan of registering a 220+ total against the mighty Gujarat.

"Can say that its my best T20 innings because whenever I get runs I want the team to win. We were batting first and we discussed that we will keep the same intent like we are chasing 200 or 220+. It is one of my best knocks," Surya said while an interview to the host broadcasters.

Further in the interview, the 32-year-old talked about the dew factor coming into the plan, and the surreal stroke he played off Mohammed Shami. In the penultimate over of the innings, SKY went across and room for a fullish delivery like he does while playing an inside-out shot, but rather he opened the face late and played it over third man.

"There was a lot of dew after 7-8 overs only so I knew what are my shots. A boundary was also short so I was trying to scooping and sweeping. He (Mohammed Shami) was bowling yorker or short of good length so I backed myself and really happy how he went over third man," he added.

After Surya's heroics, the Wankhede crowd was entertained by a Rashid Khan special as he cut down on the losing deficit with an enthralling 79* off just 32 balls.
