After producing wonderful batting tracks in the last couple of matches, the Eden Gardens gave a rank-turner which tested a batters' skills and determination on a different level.

Venkatesh Iyer scored a gritty 57 with the bat and that could be the difference maker on this track as the KKR team posted 149 on the board.

Spin strangles KKR batters; but Iyer stood tall

Put into bat, KKR openers, Jason Roy and Rahmanullah Gurbaz started with a couple of boundaries, but it needed a catch of the season to dismiss Roy for just 10. He flicked a good length ball from Boult on the leg side, and expected it to clear the fence with ease. But Shimron Hetmyer kept running to his right and plucked out a brilliant catch on the boundary fence.

Gurbaz dealt a couple of lusty blows, but Boult was in the scheme of things once again as he was sent back for 18. KKR's trusted duo - Venkatesh Iyer and Nitish Rana started the repair work, but just couldn't get out of the jail as they struggled in the middle phase. Iyer in particular looked scratchy, and at one stage was 2 off 12 deliveries.

Meanwhile, Chahal achieved the illustrious record of becoming the leading wicket-taker in IPL history, when he dismissed KKR skipper Nitish Rana.

With wickets tumbling, Iyer decided to break the shackles and targeted Yuzi Chahal with a couple of big blows to rattle the spinners. He went after Ravi Ashwin as well and was starting to find his groove as the southpaw reached his fifty in 39 balls.

But Chahal had the last laugh as the wily spinner spun his web and Iyer had to walk back to the pavilion for a 42-ball 57.

With his dismissal, KKR middle and lower order hardly provided any resistance and RR managed to restrict them to a below par total.

For Rajasthan, Chahal finished with figures of 4 for 25 off four overs.
