In a significant development, Chennai Super Kings have won the toss and opted to bat first in their face-off against Delhi Capitals at home. In a logical move, the four-time champions have drafted veteran batter Ambati Rayudu to their playing XI, keeping promising seamer Matheesha Pathirana among their impact player substitutes.

At toss, CSK skipper MS Dhoni stated that they would bat first, as he expected the wicket to slow down and assist the spinners in the latter half. He also admitted to being satisfied with how the surface in Chennai has played so far in the IPL this season.

Here’s what Dhoni said

"We will bat first. The tendency is that the wicket will be the same or it will get slower as the game goes on. The wicket has been fantastic and 1000 times better. The batters have enjoyed it. We haven't discussed much. The same things again and keeping the process the same. We don't complicate much to be honest whether we win or lose."

Meanwhile, DC skipper David Warner urged his spinners to step up for the team’s cause on this surface.

He also informed about the inclusions of Lalit Yadav and Ishant Sharma, who replace Manish Pandey and Mukesh Kumar, respectively, in the Capitals’ Playing XI. However, as they will chase, we expect Pandey to come in as the impact player.
