Once again, Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell came to the rescue of the Royal Challengers Bangalore side, who faltered early in the innings, but managed to put up a decent total on the board.

At one stage, RCB were all set to cross the 220 run-mark at the Wankhede, but some smart bowling and poor shot selection meant that the visitors ended up with 199 for 6.

Mumbai Indians had a plan for Virat Kohli and it worked for them. The MI side played Jason Behrendorff in the game, and he repaid the faith by picking up Kohli's wicket in the first over itself. The RCB batter stepped down the track and missed his heave as the thick edge was taken by Ishan Kishan.

Anuj Rawat, promoted at number 3 departed soon as RCB were tottering at 16 for 2. This is when the trusted duo of Maxwell and du Plessis joined hands and carried forward their good form in a ballistic way. The wicket at Wankhede tends to get better as the game progresses, and that was surely in the minds of the two RCB batters as they went hammer and tongs.

Faf broke the shackles by taking on Piyush Chawla in his second over. Once the confidence came back, there was no looking back for Faf as the boundary floodgates opened for the RCB team.

Both the batters reached their respective fifties and played some innovative shots that mesmerised the fans. At one stage, RCB were 136 for 2 inside 12 overs, and were all set to breach the 200-run mark with ease.

However, one wicket brought the fall of another as Maxwell mis-hit a Behrendorff delivery and was caught at deep mid for a 33-ball 68. Mahipal Lomror and Faf du Plessis followed him soon as RCB lost three wickets in the span of 10 runs.

With wickets tumbling, RCB introduced their impact player in the form of Kedar Jadhav. The newest recruit for RCB found an able partner in Dinesh Karthik. The duo did manage to struck a couple of boundaries, but MI bowlers bowled a couple of good overs to make sure that RCB even failed to breach 200.
