Chris Jordan, the England pacer has joined the Mumbai Indians side for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season. He comes in as a replacement for the injured Jofra Archer who was signed for Rs 8 crore in 2022. However, due to injuries his appearances was adhered to just five matches.

In a statement, the MI team said:

“Chris replaces Jofra Archer, whose recovery and fitness continues to be monitored by ECB. Jofra will return home to focus on his rehabilitation.”

This means that Jordan will be included in the MI squad ahead of their match against Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB) at the Wankhede Stadium on May 9.

Despite having a base price of INR 2 crore, Jordan was not bought during the player auction held in December last year. Nevertheless, he has previously played in the IPL for several teams, including Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Punjab Kings (PBKS), and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Mumbai Indians (MI) have faced difficulties this season regarding their overseas fast bowlers. Jasprit Bumrah has been unavailable, Jhye Richardson was ruled out and now injured Jofra Archer. In his Mumbai team debut, Archer picked two wickets at an average of 95 and an economy of 9.5.
