Dhawan-Shahrukh Take Punjab To 179 As Chakaravarthy Bags Three

Batting first at Eden Gardens, Punjab's Kings posted 179 after a last-over blitz from Shahrukh Khan and Harpreet Brar gave them the much-needed boost in the end.

After opting to bat first on a little sluggish track, Punjab Kings lost one early in the form of Prabhsimran Singh and incoming batter Banuka Rajapaksha couldn't do much as well, departing for a duck.

However, some decent batting from skipper Shikhar Dhawan who scored 57 for them kept them in the game as wickets kept falling at the other end.

Liam Livingstone and Jitesh Sharma made small contributions in the middle as the spin of Varun Chakaravarthy proved difficult for them to handle with the spinner bagging three wickets for 26 runs in four overs.

Suyash Sharma and Sunil Narine were decent too as they gave away 26 and 29 runs, respectively in their full quota.

With 139 on the board after the completion of 17 overs, Shahrukh Khan did most of the damage with 8-ball 21 to take his side to 179.

Harpreet Brar played a fine hand of 17 runs from 9 balls with two fours and a six in the final two overs.
