After warming the benches for such a long time, England's Joe Root is all set to play his first IPL match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday evening.

Root, who was bought by the Royals for INR 1 crore, didn't play in any of the games so far, but has finally been given a chance to showcase his T20 prowess in a crucial encounter.

Toss Update

Sanju Samson won the toss and he had no hesitation in electing to bat first. He stated that Joe Root will finally get a chance to show what he can do in the shortest format of the game.

Interestingly, after a string of low scores, Harry Brook is excluded from the playing XI, and Glenn Phillips comes in his place. However, Brook is still in the impact substitutes bench.

Here’s what Root said?

I'm very enthusiastic about playing for England. Even playing one Test match, let alone so many, was a dream come true. I'm looking forward to what comes later in the year. But I've got a lot on my hands full right now, and I'm enjoying what's going on here.

Talking about the two teams, Rajasthan Royals suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Gujarat Titans in their last match. Meanwhile, the Sunrisers also were blown away at the last moment by a spirited KKR side, as they are languishing at the bottom of the table.

Impact Players

RR: Devdutt Padikkal, Riyan Parag, Jason Holder, Obed McCoy, Adam Zampa.
