Earning a crucial victory against Mumbai Indians (MI) at their home Chepauk, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bagged their 13th point of the season after winning by six wickets as their young pacer Matheesha Pathirana scalped three wickets for 15 runs in his four-over spell. Skipper MS Dhoni seemed quite pleased with the side's effort and lauded them for beating their arch-rivals comprehensively.

During the post-match presentation, 'Thala' as he is fondly called by fans, was full of praise for Pathirana delivering good spells consistently under pressure.

However, Dhoni made a very shocking remark after that claiming that he should not play in red-ball cricket and instead focus on featuring in the ICC tournaments for his national side Sri Lanka.

"People who don't have very clean (conventional) action, batsmen have a difficult time picking it and when trying to go after the bowler. But his consistency, variation, pace makes him special. What's important is to keep an eye on how much cricket he is playing. I feel he should not play red-ball cricket, not even get close to it, even play only ICC tournaments with ODIs and keep the rest as less as possible, because he's not someone who'll change a lot,"

Adding to this, MS revealed that the unorthodox quick has added muscle to his body which would help him in the long run to prolong his career as he gets more stronger.

"This is what he'll do. So you can always use him at crucial times. But make sure he's fit and available for all the ICC tournaments and he'll be a great asset for Sri Lanka. Not to forget, he's a really young boy. Last time he came, he was very lean but has put on muscle and is stronger. I feel he'll serve for a long time in Sri Lankan cricket but he'll have to keep an eye on how much he bowls."

MS Dhoni's CSK will now go up against Delhi Capitals in their next game at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on 10th May.
