Chennai Super Kings thrashed their arch-rivals Mumbai Indians by 6-wickets at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday. With this win, they have done the double over MI and have climbed to the second position in points table.

Nothing went right for Rohit Sharma and his team as they lost 3 wickets within the power-play and never recovered from it. Despite a fighting fifty from Nehal Wadhera, Mumbai could only post 139 on the board.

In reply, CSK made light work of the target. CSK openers, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway gave a lightning start and brought the required rate below 6. Eventually, the target was achieved inside 18 overs, as the home team continued the domination at fortress Chepauk.

After this embarrassing loss, Rohit Sharma spoke with the official broadcaster, and blamed the batters for a poor outing against CSK.

"We didn't bat well enough to put enough runs on the board for the bowlers to come and defend. Games like this can happen. We've been batting really well. We had an off day as a batting unit. We didn't put enough runs on the board."

The MI skipper also rued Tilak Varma's absence due to a niggle

"We lost Tilak Varma so we thought we need Indian batters to bat in the middle overs and tackle the spinners. Unfortunately that didn't happen for us. We lost 3 wickets in the powerplay which is quite tough to come back from that situation."

Rohit also praised Piyush Chawla for his bowling and want the other bowlers to give full support to the leg-spinner

"Piyush is bowling really well. The other bowlers need to rally around him and support him as well. That is what we expect. It's a team game. We want everyone to come to the party. We can take a lot of learnings from this game and move forward. At the end of the day you need to play good cricket wherever you go."

Despite the loss, Mumbai Indians are still in the hunt for a playoff place. But they need to win their remaining fixtures to stay alive in the competition.
