Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma continued his rough patch in the ongoing IPL 2023, recording his second consecutive duck in the tournament. Overall, this was Sharma's 16th duck in the IPL, and thus he eclipsed Dinesh Karthik, Mandeep Singh and Sunil Narine to register the most number of ducks in the history of the tournament.

Most ducks in IPL history

  • Rohit Sharma: 16
  • Sunil Narine, Mandeep Singh, Dinesh Karthik: 15
  • Ambati Rayudu: 14
  • Piyush Chawla: 13
  • Harbhajan Singh: 13

For a change, Sharma demoted himself to number three, promoting Australian all-rounder Cameron Green to open alongside Ishan Kishan. After Green was cleaned up by Tushar Deshpande, the skipper joined hands with Kishan in the middle.

However, after Kishan departed for seven, Sharma was desperate to break the shackles and miscued a paddle scoop to lose his wicket for a two-ball duck.

Riding on magnificent opening spells from Deepak Chahar and Tushar Deshpande, CSK have pushed MI down on the mat, languishing at 34 for three in six overs.

After the early setbacks, Suryakumar Yadav and Nehal Wadhera are battling it out in the middle, batting on 13* and 8*, respectively.
