"If Ajinkya Rahane Features in WTC Final...": Sourav Ganguly Speaks About Rahane's Future

India's former Test captain Ajinkya Rahane made an unlikely return to the national Test side for the upcoming ICC World Test Championship 2023 Final next month. Rohit Sharma's India will be up against Pat Cummins' Australia in The Oval on June 7, where both teams will fight for the coveted mace.

Rahane's comeback is coming on the back of a phenomenal Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). In eight matches this season, Rahane has scored 224 runs with two fifties, at a staggering strike rate of 189.83.

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has backed the Mumbai-born to make the most of this return, which does not come for many players. With Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant out of action due to injuries, the middle order opened up, which allowed the selectors to recall Rahane, who was dropped back in 2022.

As quoted by India Today, Ganguly said he liked Rahane and is confident of him doing well against Australia.

Here's what Dada said

"I have always liked him. He has always been a good player for India. Opportunities don't come every day and if he gets the chance to feature in the playing XI during the WTC final, he will make the most of it. So, I wish him all the best,''

Ganguly, who is working with Dehli Capitals this season, also called KL Rahul's injury unfortunate.

'It's unfortunate, I have read that it's an injury that will keep him out of the IPL as well as the WTC final. Only physios can tell the extent of the injury. Injuries are part of the sport,"

Rahane will be in action for CSK today when the MS Dhoni-led side faces Mumbai Indians at Chapauk.
