Babar Azam Breaks Kohli's Record; Becomes Fastest Player to 5,000 ODI Runs

Babar Azam continues to tumble all records in ODI cricket. The modern day great became the fastest cricketer to cross the 5,000 runs in ODI cricket, breaking the record of Virat Kohli and Hashim Amla.

Babar achieved the landmark during the ongoing ODI match between Pakistan and New Zealand.

The Pakistan skipper crossed the milestone in just his 97th ODI innings, while Amla took 101 innings to surpass the feat. Meanwhile, Kohli reached the landmark in 114 innings.

Over the last few years, Babar has become Pakistan's best batter and has been a consistent batter across formats. 

Babar is also the second fastest batter to 4,000 ODI runs, third fastest to 3,000 ODI runs and the joint second fastest to 2,000 runs.

The previous record of the fastest Pakistan player to 5,000 ODI runs were held by Mohammad Yousuf and Saeed Anwar. Both the legends achieved this feat in 138 ODI innings.

In 99 ODIs, Babar has slammed 17 centuries, and 26 fifties, at an astonishing average of 59.62.
