The 48th fixture of the TATA IPL edition will kick off between Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. The game will commence on Friday at 19:30 local time.

The two teams went head to head in this year's IPL edition which saw RR thump GT in their own backyard by a margin of 3-wickets. Shimron Hetmyer was adjudged man of the match for his scintillating knock of 56 (23) which powered his side to an emphatic victory against a formidable GT bowling attack. It was also RR's maiden IPL victory against GT.

As RR are now the hosts, let us take a closer look at how the pitch at Mansingh Stadium would play out in this upcoming fixture.

Sawai Mansingh Stadium: Pitch Report

So far in this IPL season, only two games have been played in this venue. Royals won one of them where they resisted the Mahi blitzkrieg and prevented CSK from getting to their required target. It was a high scoring encounter where RR posted 202-6 in their first innings which later turned out to be the highest score of the season on this venue. The lowest score on this venue has also been registered by the Royals as they crashed out to Lucknow Super Giants. They were restricted 11 runs short of their required target to 144-6.

The deck at Mansingh Stadium is usually on the slower side. However, pacers are likely to extract considerable bounce and lateral movement during the early stages of the game. But while the game continues to progress the deck would begin to get slower and lower thus facilitating the slow bowlers. In addition, the bigger ground dimensions of the ground can make scoring an uphill task.

The past records suggest that the average first innings T20 score on this ground is 159 which is not considered exceptionally high by any means. However, the deck seems to be more friendlier to the teams batting second as they have won a staggering 32 out of 49 matches played as opposed to teams batting first (17). This stat is enough to suggest that it is not all that bad for the batters and should they get their eye in, we can expect to see exciting run feast.

As far as the points table is concerned, GT are right on top of the points table sitting with a reasonable NRR of 0.532. They have won 6 out of 9 fixtures played so far. On the other hand, RR are at number four spot sitting with a healthy NRR of 0.8. They have won 5 out of 9 fixtures played so far.
